Video: Graham Roberts makes worrying claim involving referees and Spurs

Graham Roberts has claimed that there referees have a vendetta against Tottenham Hotspur.

Roberts made the claim after Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal where the lilywhites were denied two penalties through separate incidents involving Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

The former Spurs defender believes that since Mauricio Pochettino was involved in a war of words with Mike Dean following a defeat to Burnley in February, referees have been against the club.

The 60-year-old has suggested that the referees have got together and decided to not give Spurs the rub of the green in any matches.

Roberts was left amazed that when Harry Kane went down under a challenge from Sokratis Papastathopoulos in injury time at the Emirates, referee Martin Atkinson did not point to the penalty spot.

  1. Delli Ali YES Harry Kane NO

Claiming a vendetta will not improve the situation one jot. Stick with the facts and select good examples.

I would ask ‘Why was Granit Xhaka not booked when penalty awarded. If he had been then his ‘second’ booking would have reulted in a RED Card’

  2. Spot on Arthur…. VAR cant get involved in Kane one as not clear and obvious error but should of in dele incident as the ref didn’t see it. Clearly VAR should of awarded it 100% nailed on rugby tackle. As for Xhaka even if not a yellow for pen as double punishment he should still off been booked well before he was for many dirty delibrate fouls which would of seen him have to stop doing them otherwise a red would of come.

  3. Mike Dean has it in for Spurs 100% and has had for seasons now. Michael Oliver the ref who officiated our home leg with Liverpool aswell as our City away game this season looks like a blatant Liverpool supporter from decisions I saw him make last season. Craig Pawson threw in without a doubt the worst refereeing performance of last season to try knocking us off our at the time, miraculous title run, if I remember he not only denied Son a penalty in the first half but yellow carded him for diving, then in the second half he gave Leicester a penalty that wasn’t a penalty (Lloris saved it and we won), think there was 3 decisions made in that game that were anti Spurs game changing type decisions. The week after that I think was when Poch blew up with mike dean against burnley. I don’t think Martin Atkinson had a bad game on Sunday at all, Harry summed it up, sometimes you get those ones and sometimes not. There was much more to dislike about Mike Dean and the VAR team the previous week against Newcastle.

  4. Actually, Michael Oliver again was the referee for the horrifically reffed Leicester game last season also, Craig Pawson had officiated the other leg with Leicester.

  5. Well thank you Mr. Roberts. I just finished pointing out the same official bias to a one Martin Keown who says Spurs are suffering from a hangover.
The hangover is from ref bias not knowing how they will fear against refs in every game they play?! Official bias has surfaced seriously against Spurs and it’s not hidden. It’s very clear to see other clubs benefit from ref support. Spurs players have to be seriously injured to get favored.
The penalty against Son? Yes! We got the penalty, but the serious offender was allowed to carry on without a caution, should have had a card. In fact that very same offender was involved in another very bad challenge. That would have been his sending off. I rest my case. I challenge the FA or are they not to get involved where Spurs might be favored?!. They do it to favor other clubs, why not Spurs. Spurs players have been singled out repeatedly even after season’s end and given lengthy suspensions for the following season. Seeing I believe. I believe we all have seen it and those who know it’s wrong won’t say or comment about it. For those bad sportsmen, shame on you. You all need to be suspended.

  6. Lets talk simply about VAR.
Var is now capturing all the events that have been going by the way side for years favoring certain clubs.
    Lets talk about official bias.
Spurs /Liverpool champions league final. No hand ball, that’s why the ref did not go to Var, it was not a hand ball.
He favored Liverpool. Should they ever release it, you will see.
For those of you who think otherwise, are just haters of Spurs.
Trust you have a better mind set one day.
