Video: Jason Cundy names the big name striker to replace Harry Kane at Spurs

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Jason Cundy believes that Harry Kane’s injury has happened at a good time of the month.

The Spurs striker tore his hamstring on New Year’s Day in the defeat at Southampton and will not return following surgery until at least April.

Cundy has claimed that with Kane’s injury occurring at the start of January, it gives Spurs the opportunity to at least try and bring in a replacement while the transfer window rather than in three week’s time after the window has slammed shut.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy gave his view that Spurs should not look to purely sign an understudy but should do everything possible instead to sign Edinson Cavani.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the summer at Paris Saint-Germain and feels that he is ready made to step into the shoes of Kane.

Danny Ings was also mentioned as a potential alternative, the 27-year-old has scored 13 goals in 21 Premier League matches this season (transfermarkt).
