Video: Jermaine Jenas on Tottenham’s season-defining moment

Tottenham Hotspur ended a run of three matches without a victory when they managed to grind out a 2-1 win against Southampton.

Former midfielder Jermaine Jenas described the three points as a season-defining moment for Tottenham on the back of a tough week which saw them lose to both Leicester City and Colchester United.

Jenas praised the character of the Spurs players who found themselves reduced to ten men after just 30 minutes of action against the Saints when Serge Aurier picked up his second booking.

To a man, the remaining players dug in and denied Southampton the ability to pile more misery on the North London side.

The victory comes as a significant morale boost ahead of Tuesday night’s visit of Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Opinion

Spurs showed yesterday that they can roll up their sleeves and fight for a victory when they have their backs to the wall.

The result was hugely important, not only because of the three points but also to restore some faith between the players and supporters.
