Jose Mourinho has revealed why he has decided to give Steven Bergwijn a full Premier League debut against Manchester City this afternoon.
The 22-year-old arrived from PSV Eindhoven earlier this week in a deal worth in excess of £22million and has taken up the number 23 shirt which was vacated by Christian Eriksen following his departure to Inter Milan (Independent).
Mourinho claimed that the aim is to be attacking and that Bergwijn is fit and has already had a week to try and understand Spurs’ way of style better.
The Dutch international forms part of a front three with Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura.
"He's fit. He arrived early in the week. He had a week with us to try and understand us better."
Jose Mourinho says Steven Bergwijn should be ready for Tottenham's clash with Manchester City.
