Video: Jose Mourinho speaks on Tottenham’s Premier League title chances

Former Manchester United and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes that there are four sides who have a realistic chance of winning the Premier League title this season.

Mourinho was speaking as part of his guest punditry appearance for Sky Sports ahead of Manchester United’s 4-0 win against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The 56-year-old named Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and joked that Manchester City’s B team are the other team who can rival for the top flight crown.

Spurs ended last season 27 points behind City down in fourth place and expects them to put up more of a challenge given his prediction.

Tottenham began their Premier League campaign with a hard fought 3-1 win against newcomers Aston Villa while Liverpool and City comfortably won their fixtures against Norwich and West Ham 4-1 and 5-0 respectively.

Mourinho’s mention of a Man City B team was a reference to their squad depth with Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan among the player named on the bench for their match at the Hammers.

Asked how many teams had a chance of winning the Premier League, he told Sky Sports Super Sunday: “Four. Man City, Tottenham, Liverpool and Man City’s ‘B Team’.

“When I looked at the bench yesterday, there were some images of the bench and the players that were not involved, I think even the ‘B Team’ could fight for the title.

“Independent of what happens today, even if one of the teams play magnificently, I believe they are going to resist in the title race

“I don’t see also Arsenal to resist to a title race, but I think Tottenham has to join it.”
