Former West Ham United midfielder Martin Allen has given his view on why he believes Tottenham Hotspur have struggled this season.
Spurs have already been eliminated from the Carabao Cup by League Two side Colchester United and humiliated by Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Their Premier League form has been below the expected standards and were ninth in the table going into the international break.
Martin highlighted the fact that Danny Rose was left out of the club’s pre-season tour to the Far East to discuss a potential move away from the club, but remained in North London beyond the transfer deadline yet still finds himself in the team.
He claimed that the feeling can spread between players when a manager feels that you are not up to the required standard.
Allen also believes that Pochettino needs to approach Levy to try and get the best money he can for the likes of Christian Eriksen to leave the club and start afresh in pre-season.
“If you’ve got people who don’t want to be there, it soon starts to spread.”
“Rose was told he’s surplus, he’s now in the team. Vertonghen is back playing.”
