Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele was given his marching orders at the weekend.
The Belgian was in action for Guangzhou R&F when they hosted Shenzhen and was unable to stop his side from falling to a 2-0 defeat.
The 33-year-old was shown the red card by the referee deep into injury time when he appeared to kick a Shenzhen player who was running down the clock near the corner flag.
The player took offence to Dembele’s challenge by squaring up to the ex-Fulham man while his remonstration with the referee proving to fruitless.
Dembele left North London in January of last year for £11million after making 250 appearances for the club (Guardian).
