Video: Rose reveals he engineered his own Spurs exit to Newcastle

Danny Rose has revealed that he contacted his agent to engineer a move to Newcastle United after hearing of their interest.

The 29-year-old England international left Tottenham Hotspur earlier today to join the Magpies on loan for the remainder of the season.

In an interview with Newcastle’s official TV channel, he revealed that he has always had ambitions of playing for the club.

Magpies boss Steve Bruce made a move for the former Leeds player after first-choice left-backs Paul Dummett and Jetro Willems were ruled out for the rest of the season through injury.

He has completed his move in time to be put into consideration for selection for their home match against Norwich City on Saturday and joins former Spurs team-mate Nabil Bentaleb on Tyneside after he joined on loan from Schalke earlier in the window.

Rose has made 214 appearances for Spurs, scoring 10 times which included a memorable strike on his debut in the North London derby against Arsenal at White Hart Lane.
