Video: Sky reporter explains why a number of PL clubs want the season over by June 30

The Premier League will meet again this Friday with an increasing number of clubs reportedly wanting the season concluded by June 30.

Club are said to be keen to bring the campaign to a close by the end of June due to player contracts expiring.

Sky Sports claim that clubs are worried that if the season is not finished by that date, out-of-contract and loan players would be able to walk away despite FIFA approving plans that players’ expiring contracts can be extended beyond the end of June (Guardian).

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol revealed that a Premier League owner believes the meeting will be focused on how clubs can survive the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic along with whether the season can be continued or should be abandoned.

No decisions are expected to be made formal following the meeting.

Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen is one of many players in the Premier League who are due to be out of contract this summer.
