Tottenham Hotspur became the laughing stock of European football last night after a disgraceful 7-2 defeat to Bayern Munich.
A diabolical second half saw Mauricio Pochettino’s side concede six goals in North London in an embarrassing and toothless display from his players.
Former Spurs striker Alan Brazil suggested on his Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT alongside Ally McCoist that things are not right behind the scenes at the club who made it through to the final of last season’s Champions League.
Bayern were ruthless in front of goal, there is no doubting that. However, the cracks within the Spurs team were evident. Serge Aurier was a defensive liability while some of his team-mates were also guilty of sloppy passes which invited the German giants to add to their goal tally.
Spurs had pressed the opposition well in the first 40 minutes, but bizarrely took their foot off the gas which ended up backfiring on them when Bayern took the lead just before half time.
