Video: The goal which broke Ledley King’s 19-year Premier League record

Southampton striker Shane Long has this evening broke Ledley King’s record for the fastest-ever goal that was scored in a Premier League match.

Long’s goal broke the record held by Ledley King for 19 years when he scored within 6 seconds of kick off. The former Tottenham defender scored after 9.82 seconds against Bradford in December 2000 when he was operating in a midfield role under George Graham.

Long isn’t exactly prolific in front of goal for the Saints, it was only his forth of the season. Regardless of losing the record, Ledley King will be remembered among Spurs fans for more than a quick goal – he was top drawer week in, week out.
