Video: The non-Spurs player who played a pivotal part in our Champions League campaign

Lucas Moura rightly received all of the plaudits on Wednesday night after his stunning hat-trick display fired Tottenham Hotspur into the final of the Champions League.

However, it could have been all so different. Mauricio Pochettino’s side found themselves going into the last group match against Barcelona knowing that they had to match Inter Milan’s result against PSV Eindhoven to progress to the knockout stages.

It was Moura who scored a vital late goal to earn a draw at the Nou Camp, while Inter were being held to a 1-1 draw by the Dutch side. Deep into injury time, the Italian side offered one last attack to try and salvage their European hopes.

Their star striker Mauro Icardi was played through on goal and it looked as if Spurs’ hearts would be broken once again, only for PSV defender Nick Viergever to make an unbelievable 93rd-minute last-ditch tackle to deny the Serie A side and condemn them to the Europa League.

While Spurs have no doubt showed some fantastic character during their historic European campaign, it is moments such as Viergever’s challenge that make you dream whether our name will be on the trophy come June 1st against Liverpool.
