Video: Tim Sherwood reveals how Daniel Levy’s vow could be set to be broken

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder and manager Tim Sherwood has revealed that he hopes Christian Eriksen will sign a new contract at the club.

The Dane remained in North London following the closure of the European transfer window on Monday.

Sherwood suggested that if the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid decide not to show an interest in the 27-year-old that he may reconsider his future and put pen to paper on an extension.

Eriksen is out of contract at Tottenham at the end of the season with Sherwood revealing that Daniel Levy vowed that he would never lose a player on a free transfer again after Sol Campbell did the dirty and joined Arsenal.

Opinion

Eriksen has proven over the last six years that he is an instrumental part of our team and the player who has the most creative spark in the final third of the pitch.

To lose the playmaker would be a blow, to lose him for nothing would be catastrophic. How the club have allowed Eriksen, Vertonghen and Alderweireld to be in such a position has been very poorly managed by club officials.
