Spurs manager Andre Villas Boas criticised his team after they were thrashed 6-0 at Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
It was a dire performance which was way below the standard we expect from the players who pull on our jersey and have done since 1882. Frankly, the club should offer a gesture to the Tottenham fans who travelled to the Ethiad and had to pay to witness our players let down our club in such a way.
AVB told the press: “It was a game where everything went wrong for us. From being one of the best defences in the country, to suffering six goals in a fixture, it’s very, very hard to find explanations. So, I think, our game plan, our confidence, our motivation for this fixture, which was high, was immediately affected after we suffered a goal in fifteen seconds.
“The fact that we reacted positively after, is probably the only good thing that we can look at for a game like this. After those first fifteen minutes before the 2-0, when we could have drawn the game, we lost control of the situation.
“In every single (Man City) attack, was a goalscoring opportunity for them and today we just weren’t competent enough, we were not at our best and I think we have to be ashamed of a result like this.”
