Video: West Ham’s embarrassing plea to Gareth Southgate backfires

West Ham United are certainly unique in the fact that their captain, Mark Noble is the only skipper of any current Premier League club not to earn a senior international cap.

The 32-year-old has played for the England age ranges from Under 16-21 but has not worn the three Lions at senior level.

West Ham’s social media team stooped to embarrassingly new lows yesterday when they posted a video on Twitter of Noble scoring a goal against Watford and urging national team boss Gareth Southgate to ‘do the right thing’.

Southgate did, of course, do the right thing and continued Noble’s impeccable record of still failing to play for his country. If the Spurs social media team ever stoop to these lows, I for one will be embarrassed to be associated with our club.

Tottenham Hotspur not only boast a fully fledged player in club captain Hugo Lloris, who lifted the World Cup for France last summer but also have England’s captain Harry Kane within their ranks.
