Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill is ready to take on Tottenham in a £12m battle for Everton’s South Africa winger Steven Pienaar, who has only a year left on his contract and is stalling over an extension.

Spurs are also in the race for Pienaar, who was disappointing in his opening display for South Africa in the World Cup.

Everton boss David Moyes is keen to hold onto the winger and wants at least £15m for the former Ajax man.

  1. Don’t think hed improve us at all not with Niko modric who can play left mid I’d rather offer Joe Cole the money he wants as he’s a far better player

  2. Bar the obvious grammar error from Christo i totally agree, Harry would have to be mad to pay 15Mil for Steven Pienaar when theres players like Joe Cole going free, i personally believe the man Tottenham should buy for the left midfield role is Martin Petrov and again he is on a free, and please offload our dead-beats, O'hara, Corluka, Keane, Assou-Ekotto, Jenas etc etc…

  3. I thought that when I saw Man City had released Petrov. Getting on a bit but he's got a cracking left foot and would give us a bit of width. Cheaper than Cole and Pienaar too I expect.

  4. It is worth noting that Cole is a Spammers fan and i believe not a fan of Spurs at all. Also he didn't stay at a double winning side due to wages, so success it clearly not as important as money, which would suggest to me it would be to the highest bidder and we all that City. Although I i would love to see him at spurs

  5. IF HARRY IS HELL BENT ON SECUREING A LEFT SIDED PLAYER WITH A CRACKING LEFT FOOT AND WHO HAS PREMIERSHIP EXPERIENCE AND SCORES GOAL`S LOOK NO FUTHER THAN CHRIS BRUNT OF WBA HE`S YOUNG AND WOULD`NT COST ANY WHERE NEAR WHAT EVERTON ARE LOOKING .
