Vincent Janssen is back in action for Spurs today

Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen takes to the field today, but he won’t be part of the squad which faces Manchester United at Wembley.

Instead, the Dutch international makes his second appearance of the season for Tottenham’s Under-23 side against West Ham United.

Janssen made his return in the Under-23 match against Liverpool on Monday evening for his first action in a Spurs shirt since August 2017.

The 24-year-old played the first 45 minutes against the Reds as he looks to gain match fitness after a lengthy lay off that saw him undergo foot surgery at the end of August.

Spurs have been unable to offload the striker due to his injury issues and he spent last season on loan in Turkey with Fenerbahce where he played just 16 matches due to an initial ankle fracture.

Janssen joined Spurs for £18.6million in 2016 from AZ Alkmaar on a four-year deal (Sky Sports) but has failed to make an impact at the club.

The official Spurs Twitter account confirmed his place in the starting line up a little earlier.
