Watch: Arsene Wenger feels Spurs have a ‘mountain to climb’ after cup defeat

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that Tottenham Hotspur have less of a chance to return to next season’s Champions League final compared to what Liverpool managed to achieve following last season’s loss to Real Madrid.

Jurgen Klopp’s side tasted defeat at the hands of the Spanish giants in the European showpiece twelve months ago but managed to make it through to the final two during the current campaign to put the defeat behind them by winning the prestigious trophy for the sixth time in their history following the 2-0 win.

Wenger feels that Spurs have a ‘mountain to climb’ if they are to make it to this stage again which makes the heartbreak of defeat even worse considering the threat that the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are likely to pose.

Opinion

Wenger is right, Spurs will not have a better opportunity to have won the trophy than what they had last night. Liverpool were there for the taking and the attacking players within the Spurs squad did not deliver.
