Watch: Ashes hero Ben Stokes suggests he could be a now be a Spurs fan

The majority of the country watched in suspense and awe when England’s cricket side led by Ben Stokes staged a dramatic comeback in the Ashes against Australia on Sunday.

The 28-year-old hit an unbeaten 135 as England snatched victory from a seemingly impossible position in Leeds to level the series at 1-1.

Stokes, who was born in New Zealand was shown footage of Tottenham Hotspur fans celebrating the victory in the stadium ahead of the Premier League match against Newcastle United.

He admitted that he does not currently support a football team, but may now pledge his allegiance to the white half of North London after watching the scenes inside N17.

Stokes was taken aback by the passion that football fans had shown towards the cricket and he would certainly be welcome to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with open arms, especially if he can carry his form into the two remaining tests to keep the Ashes in England.
