Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy believes that the first month of the Premier League season is set to be full of frustration due to the introduction of VAR.
Graphics and video clips will be displayed on giant screens to help explain Video Assistant Referee decisions to fans in the Premier League next season.
Also, should the VAR feel there is a “definitive video-clip” available which can help supporters understand the reasons behind the decision, it will be broadcast on giant screens.
VAR can only intervene on “clear and obvious errors” or “serious missed incidents” which relate to goals, penalties, straight red cards and mistaken identity.
Murphy feels that the raw emotion of football is about to be lost and made his thoughts known during his appearance on Jim White’s show on talkSPORT on 23/6/19.
"It's going to make the first month of the Premier League season farcical." ?
"I love working on MOTD but we're going to spend half a show on VAR decisions."
"That euphoric moment of scoring a goal is being lost. Raw emotion is stopped.”
