Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that he came close to signing Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
Joe Cole, who played under Redknapp at West Ham United was currently playing his football for French outfit Lille, where Hazard was coming through the ranks and was impressing for the first team and recommended to Redknapp that he should take a closer look at the young star.
Redknapp flew out to France to meet with the Belgian and revealed that Hazard was keen to make the move to Tottenham. However, in true Spurs style, the deal never happened and he made the move to Stamford Bridge and has gone on to become one of the best players in the world and ironically scored their second goal against us last night.
"Joe Cole was with Hazard at Lille… he told me he's the best player he'd ever played with."
"I went four or five times to watch him."
"I met Hazard in a hotel and he wanted to come to Spurs."
