“What a complete performance” – Jermaine Jenas praises Tottenham player

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas took to Twitter to praise one of Mauricio Pochettino’s players following the 3-0 win against Borussia Dortmund.

The talk before the match among some Spurs fans was what to do on the left side after Pochettino had confirmed that Danny Rose was not fit to start after picking up a gash on his shin against Leicester City.

Jan Vertonghen slotted in at left-back and put in a stunning second half performance which not only caught the eye of the Spurs faithful, but also of Jenas.

Spurs will now go to Dortmund early next month full of confidence and in such a strong position, especially after keeping the German side to a clean sheet and denied them an opportunity of an away goal.

Dortmund were the better side in the first half, with Spurs lacking a cutting edge. The timing of Heung-min Son’s opener just after half time was vital and set the tone for the rest of the match.

Here’s what Jenas had to say about Vertonghen.
