What Poch said after the West Brom embarrassment

Mauricio Pochettino admitted that he was disappointed, rather than angry following Tottenham Hotspur’s embarrassing display at West Bromwich Albion.

An injury time goal from former Spur Jake Livermore ensured that the Baggies took all three points from the encounter, with Tottenham blowing the opportunity to bolster their Champions League hopes with a top four finish.

It was a shocking display, there was no attacking impetus. Harry Kane had another anonymous game, while all I can say about Erik Lamela is that I wish I could swap Toby Alderweireld’s future uncertainty and put him in his place.

Now Spurs fans are fearful that in true Spursy fashion, we could lose fourth place to Chelsea.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino told the BBC: “Of course I am disappointed. We are in a race to be in the top four and play in the Champions League next season and that defeat disappoints us. It is certainly a bad feeling after the game.

“We dominated the game. We created enough chances but didn’t score. In the end West Brom have quality and physical condition at set pieces and can create problems for any team. If you do not score you put at risk the game.

“I am not upset or angry, only disappointed because we created chances and did not score. We need to be clinical.”
