What South Korea’s glory means for Son and Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur have received a huge boost with the news that South Korea have just won the Asian Games gold medal in football.

The success means that Heung-min Son is now exempt from military service due to the victory against Japan in the final.

Son, 26, has not carried out the two-year mandatory military service expected of his countrymen and faced being called up if South Korea failed to win the final.

The game against Japan went into extra-time before Lee Seungwoo and Hwang Hee Chan put South Korea 2-0 up.

Ueda Ayase pulled one back but South Korea held on to the delight of Spurs fans.

Son is expected to return to action for his club in time for the Liverpool match on the 15th of this month.

Congrulations, Sonny!
