The Spurs Web have teamed up with Icon Home Entertainment to give you the chance of winning The Road on Blu-ray and DVD (x1 of each).
Based on the Pulitzer Prize Winning Novel by Cormac McCarthy (No Country For Old Men), THE ROAD has been faithfully adapted in “one of the most chillingly effective visions of the worlds end ever put on screen†(Empire). BAFTA® nominated for ‘Best Cinematography’, THE ROAD is released on Blu-ray and DVD by Icon Home Entertainment on 17 May 2010.
Academy Award® nominee Viggo Mortensen (Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Eastern Promises, A History Of Violence), leads an all star cast including Guy Pearce (The Hurt Locker, Memento) and Academy Award® winners Robert Duvall (Crazy Heart, The Godfather I&II,) and Charlize Theron (Monster, The Italian Job). THE ROAD also platforms a fantastic debut performance from startling young newcomer Kodi Smit-McPhee, who secured his part over hundreds due to an exceptional audition and his strong resemblance to Theron, who plays his on-screen mother. Kodi will soon feature in the upcoming re-make of Let The Right One In: Let Me In.
THE ROAD is a thrilling and moving, post apocalyptic tale of the survival of a father (Mortensen) and his young son (Smit-McPhee) as they journey across a barren America that was destroyed by a mysterious cataclysm. A masterpiece adventure, THE ROAD boldly imagines a future in which men are pushed to the worst and the best that they are capable of – a future in which a father and his son are sustained by love.
Through outstanding direction from John Hillcoat (The Proposition), THE ROAD enthrals as it tenderly explores real themes of survival, human nature and love, raising questions of morality and trust along the way.
Released also on Blu-ray to enhance the spectacular sound and magnificent cinematography, THE ROAD includes an array of special features including ‘Walking into Darkness’, an intelligent featurette that see’s John Hillcoat peel back the layers of the film, giving an in-depth and thought provoking insight into The Road’s development. Also included is a making of documentary, comedy B-roll footage and a beautiful gallery of stills.
Hailed as “A classic†by The Times and “The film everyone should see†by The Independent, The Road is released on Blu-ray & DVD on 17 May from Icon Home Entertainment.
