You’re the Boss: Pick your Spurs team vs Leicester City

Tottenham will be looking to continue our fine run of form of recent weeks when we travel away for what will be a difficult match against Leicester City on Boxing Day.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently sit third in the Premier League form table and have only suffered two defeats away from home in our last six matches which reads as DLWWLW – our defeats came against Man City and Chelsea, while we have Christian Eriksen to thank for the victories at Hull City and Swansea City.

Leicester on the other hand sit bottom of the form table, with no win in their last six matches and have only managed to pick up five points at home in their last six matches at the Kingpower Stadium.   These are the kind of games which we tend to struggle in, so it would be a fantastic win for us.

If you were Mauricio Pochettino, what would your Tottenham starting eleven be?    Leave your team selections below. Here’s what we have come up with:-

Lloris

Walker Fazio Vertonghen Davies

Bentaleb Stambouli

Chadli Eriksen Lamela

Kane

  1. Want to see Diar try in middle:
Lloris – Walker, Diar, Vertonghen, Davies – Bentaleb, Dembele – Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli – Kane

  2. Lloris
    Walker, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies
    Bentaleb/Mason, Dembele
    Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli
    Kane

Torn between Bentaleb and Mason but feel like only one should start. Personally feel like we need that bit of experience in midfield to deal with Cambiasso! If Mason is fit, then he would be out better option so that Dembele can sit a bit deeper, also Bentaleb looked like he needed a rest against Burnley. Wouldn't want to rush Mason back however. Think the front four pretty much cement themselves at the moment, be surprised if it's any different. Also, very satisfied by the cohesion that seems to have formed in our defence, Fazio and Vertonghen looks twice the partnership since the start of the season and Davies is coming into some great form, unplayable at the moment! Walker has shown in the last few games how important he is for Poch's system, particularly with Lamela cutting in a lot it opens up the possibility to exploit the overlap and he's gotten behind multiple times since his return. Be exciting to see if Yedlin brings the same!

  3. You're the boss lloris walker vertonghan fazio rose mason Erikson bentalab Chadli Kane lamela if his got his good passing and quick off the mark head

  4. Lloris

    Walker-Fazio-Verts-Rose

    Stambouli/Capoue-Dembele

    Lamela-Eriksen-Chadli

    Soldado

Given opposition is Leicester, I would give Davies, Bentaleb, and Kane some rest time and allow Mason time to heal up appropriately for Man U game. Also, with either Capoue or Stambouli policing the space in front of the back four, Dembele has historically had a good track record gliding in midfield against lesser teams. Would keep trio of attacking MF players as is and subbing in Soldado to see if he can get more momentum with another goal or two against Leicester

    COYS!

  5. Loris, walker, Fazio, vertongen, Davies
    Erriksen and Capoue
    Lamela, Kane, Chadli
    Soldado

With mason risky bentaleb looking like he needs a rest Paulinho and dembele not delivering and possibly on the way out? I would put errikson in the middle so we have someone who will break into the box with Capoue holding, and play two up front especially against a team that is lacking in confidence

  6. Lloris

Walker – Fazio – Vert – Rose (Davies for rest due to MU)

Dembele – Capoue (Hope to see Bentaleb – Mason vs MU)

    Townsend – Lamela – Chadli

    Kane (early sub to Adebayor)

Eriksen, Davies, Bentaleb and Kane should be fully fit to face MU

  7. Lloris
    Walker, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies
    Stambouli, Dembele
    Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli
    Kane

Bentaleb for me is such a negative player. Sits off defensively which doesnt allow us to squeeze efficiently and then on the ball always turns to his left foot which isnt where the attack needs to go in a lot of cases.

  8. Considering tough games to follow, I would go with this XI:

    Lloris

    Chiriches Fazio Vertonghen Rose

    Stambouli Paulinho

    Lennon Dembele Townsend

    Soldado

  9. Lloris
    Chiriches,Fazio, Vertongen,Rose
    Stambouli, Eriksen
    Lamela,Kane,Chadli
    Soldado
Resting Walker, Davies Bentaleb Mason for next two matches
Subs Lennon Townsend Dyrer and maybe some of those for the shop window sale
An attacking line up to get our goal difference into the +
