Stambouli signed for Spurs for what looked like a bargain price of £4.7m in 2014, transferring from Montpellier. .
The Frenchman offered a strong utility player who could martial a defence, as well as sit comfortably in midfield. .
Unfortunately, he never quite managed either in a Spurs shirt, clocking up only 25 appearances in all competitions, with one goal. .
Stambouli strangely moved on to French giants PSG only a year after Tottenham bought him, with the North London outfit actually making a profit on the player. .
He now plies his trade for Schalke where he has been a first team regular for two seasons now. .

Not every signing comes to fruition in the Premier League, and Spurs fans are certainly used to the odd flop in North London.
