Football betting: who to wager on for fourth?

Although perhaps more of the attention gets focused on the battle for the Premier League title, the race for fourth place – and the last of the coveted and lucrative Champions League spots – is just as big a deal for those clubs competing for them. It is also a big issue for many of those wagering on the Premier League with sports betting sites, and one of the clubs that many will be backing to claim the fourth spot is Tottenham.

Following a shaky start to the new season, under Andre Villas Boas, their chances at the halfway stage look to be pretty decent. Tottenham currently sit one place above that, in third, and have hit a run of consistent form at a very good time in the season to do so, but this does not mean that they are certainties for fourth place, with odds being placed around 11/10. Competition is pretty intense this year, and there are a number of other clubs with a say in this.

Of course, their North London rivals Arsenal at the same price, 11/10 are one of them and, although the Gunners appear to be a club in decline, they will feel that getting fourth position is something they cannot afford not to do. Everton, under their excellent manager David Moyes, are also making a concerted bid for the place this year – and in their recent meeting with Tottenham, the Toffees came back from a goal down to snatch the win in the dying seconds. Everton currently stand at 9/2 and you can bet that neither of these teams is likely to let Tottenham have it all their own way.

Few would doubt that it is likely to go all the way to the final few matches, which will test the nerve of those with money at stake, and of those with an emotional investment, making them turn to options like Soccer Safari and other football games at online casinos like Gaming Club, just for a bit of light relief. Games like this World Cup between animals in the African jungle let football and betting addicts get their fix of both while also temporarily forgetting about the fraught battle for the Champions League – for a little while at least. There’s no shortage of roulette wheels and card games to distract you more fully, and with regular offers and bonuses on the poker tables you can be sure that you have more control over your cash than placing a bet on the EPL.

If you’re looking to take the risk of placing a bet don’t let this dissuade you though. Imagine the thrill of seeing your team take that fourth place and knowing it’s going to give you a nice kitty with which to celebrate!
