Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy has claimed that Mousa Dembele snubbed the opportunity to discuss a move to two Premier League clubs.
Murphy was a team mate of Dembele’s at Fulham and revealed that both Manchester United and Liverpool wanted to hold transfer talks only for the Belgian to decide against it.
Having already played in London with Fulham, Murphy claims that Dembele decided to move to Tottenham due to being able to continue to live in the capital.
Murphy revealed that he even spoke to Dembele to ensure he knew just how big Liverpool and Manchester United are but was met with insistence that he had no desire to move further afield.
Dembele joined Spurs for £15m from Fulham in 2012 and made 250 appearances for the North London club whilst also establishing himself as a fan favourite.
"Mousa Dembélé went to Tottenham from Fulham."
"Liverpool and Manchester United were interested. ✅
"He didn't even speak to them." ?
