Aaron Lennon is expected to be missing again for the visit of Sunderland on Saturday.

The pacy winger suffered an ankle injury in the home defeat to Stoke and is looking increasingly doubtful to make the weekend’s match with the Black Cats.

Lennon is expected to return from his injury after the upcoming internationals, also making him a doubt to take part in England’s friendly against Brazil in Qatar.

In more positive news, Luka Modric is set to return to light training after fracturing his fibula.

Spurs staff are still cautious about setting a date for his comeback, but there is definite encouragement in regards to his recuperation.

And Jonathan Woodgate is set to return to the squad again, after recovering from the head injury picked up against Stoke.

He will fill in for Sebastian Bassong who has been ruled out for at least a month with a hamstring problem.

Joe Jordan told Sky Sports News, “Woodgate has been pretty unlucky against Stoke to take a bang. He’ll be back in contention.”

Jermain Defoe will return from suspension for the Sunderland match.
