Spurs hopeful Defoe will be ready for City

Jermain Defoe should be fit to face Manchester City in Tottenham’s Premier League opener on Saturday.
Joe Jordan is hopeful that the Spurs forward will be ready in time, despite picking up a recent groin injury.
Defoe missed the recent friendly win against Fiorentina and has undergone a scan on the problem. Spurs fans will be hoping that JD is 100% ready for the arrival of moneybags City at the Lane.
“I don’t think it is anything serious,” Jordan said. “Jermain went for a scan and there is an ever so slight tear there.
“It is more precaution than anything. I think he should be all right. We have had to hold him back. He was desperate to train in the latter part of last week but he was pulled out.
“We are hoping that some time this week he will be back in training with the lads.”
