Spurs keen on Mangala loan deal from Man City

Tottenham have enquired about a loan deal for Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala according to French paper L’Equipe.

The 25-year-old has found himself out of favour at the Ethiad following the arrival of Pep Guardiola and is set to leave before the transfer closes on Wednesday. Tottenham, AC Milan and Napoli are all said to be keen on taking Mangala on loan with a view to a permanent move.

Mauricio Pochettino wants to add extra competition to his first-choice pairing of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, while many fans have been questioning the whereabouts of Kevin Wimmer who has yet to be named in a Spurs squad so far this season. Wimmer was a more than able deputy towards the end of last season when Vertonghen was ruled out with a knee injury.

Mangala joined City with a reputation of being one of the most talented central defenders in Europe, but it just hasn’t worked out for him.
