Spurs starlet joins Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg have responded to the sale of one Belgian player by signing another, with attacking midfielder Ismail Azzaoui arriving from Tottenham on Monday.

Less than 24 hours after selling Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City, the Bundesliga club have confirmed the signing of Azzaoui for an undisclosed fee.

The 17-year-old has represented his country up to under-17 level but never featured in the Premier League for Spurs, playing instead in their youth team.

“We’ve been following Azzaoui’s progress for a long time now,” said Wolfsburg’s director of sport Klaus Allofs on his club’s website.

“He’s a young player with plenty of potential who we expect to break into our first-team in the mid-term.

“We will get a more precise and complete picture of his current level over the next few weeks and will then decide which of our teams [first team or reserves] he will begin playing in.”
