Edwards Norwich loan cut short

Marcus Edwards has returned to the club having been on loan at Championship side Norwich since January write The Evening Standard.

The youngster, once compared to Messi by manager Mauricio Pochettino, initially joined the Canaries on a loan until the end of this season, but has seen it cut short due to ‘personal reasons’, according to Norwich.

He has bags of talent, however his attitude has often come under question and Pochettino eluded to the issues in his book ‘Brave New World’, and Norwich coach Daniel Farke flagged them less than two weeks after his arrival.

“There is no pressure on this signing. If it works, we can have some fun with him. If not, it is more a problem for Marcus,”:the German coach said in January. “There is no doubt with the ball he is one of our best players. But without it, he has to grow up a bit.

Farke added: “That was the reason he didn’t play for Tottenham. They have a good squad but he is still one of the best there with the ball. He has to be more grown up in his attitude. We got the feeling we could take him because there is no financial risk with a loan. We have really good conditions and we can only win.”

So Edwards returns to Tottenham having played just six minutes as a substitute for Norwich. Big things have been expected and his natural talent is not in doubt however it seems attitude and poor advice seem to be holding him back. It remains to be seen if he’ll make it as a footballer let alone at Spurs.
