Kane focused on catching Liverpool

Harry Kane has targeted overtaking Liverpool to finish third in the Premier League this season.

We are now five points clear of Chelsea with three matches remaining, following Monday’s 2-0 win over Watford, however Kane says overtaking Liverpool is the focus now, ahead of games against West Brom at the Hawthorns on Saturday, and back-to-back home games against Newcastle on May 9th and Leicester four days later.

Liverpool have one point lead on Spurs, but Jurgen Klopp’s side have just two more league games to play this season, against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and Brighton at Anfield on the final day of the season on May 13th

“Three games left, we win them all hopefully and then we’re up to third,”:Kane told Sky Sports.”It feels like ages since we last played – eight days. Our form has not been the best and when that happens you want to play. We had to wait”

He added: “We started a bit slow but we won which is what we’re happy about.”

We took the lead on 16 minutes when Dele Alli drilled home from 12 yards out from Christian Eriksen’s pass, after an error from Watford goalkeeper goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis.

And then on 48 minutes Harry made it two with an instinctive finish from Kieran Trippier’s low cross from the right-hand edge of the area.It was Kane’s 27th Premier League goal of the season, however the England striker is still four goals behind Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.

All is not lost for Kane, he was three goals behind Everton striker Romelu Lukaku with three games to play last season, but still finished four goals ahead of the Belgian to claim his second successive Golden Boot.”Hopefully I can finish strong like I did last season going into a big summer,”:Kane continued.”I try to improve every year. Last year I got 29 goals so I’d like to beat that but we’ll see what happens. In my mind I’m trying to get to that 30 mark.”
