Lloris calls for mental strength

An article in The Mirror has described how Hugo Lloris has called on his team-mates to show their mental strength with the chase for the Champions League going to the wire.

Saturday’s unexpected defeat to relegation-bound West Brom at the weekend means the lads have won just one of their last four matches.

Chelsea by contrast are on a four game winning run and race has given Antonio Conte’s men a chance of sneaking past us in the final week of the season.

Lloris said: “Now it is all mental. It is not about fitness or physical condition. It is mental.”

It was our first defeat away from home in the league for five months, however Hugo insisted the pressure is still on Chelsea who have no margin for error in remaining games at home to Huddersfield and away against Newcastle.

Our captain added: “The thing is, Chelsea have no choice. If they want to play Champions League then they need to win all of their games.I think we have burned our jokers! It is a bit disappointing because we could have managed the end of the season in a better way.

He went on to say: “But I think we need to put into our minds that it is going to be difficult until the end. Until the last game. Until the last minute against Leicester because we are in the Premier League and we are fighting against Liverpool, against Chelsea. They are both top clubs.
