What Poch said after the Inter Milan thrashing

Mauricio Pochettino admitted that he was very happy with the performance of his players following Tottenham’s 6-1 demolition of Inter Milan on Friday afternoon.

A brace from Harry Kane along with goals from Erik Lamela, Dele Alli, Vincent Janssen, Shayon Harrison gave Spurs the perfect preparation ahead of next Saturday’s Premier League opener at Everton.

You can never take pre-season friendlies at face value as a measurement for what will actually happen when the season starts, but it certainly will help the confidence of the players in the build up over the next week.

There were plenty of plus points for Tottenham fans to take out of the game. Vincent Janssen’s performance as the front man showed plenty of promise along with Erik Lamela’s stunning strike.

When asked what was most pleasing about Spurs’ big win. Pochettino told the club’s official website afterwards: “All of it!

“It’s true we need to analyse the game and improve in certain areas but I’m pleased with everything, very happy.

“The performance was good but in football, you can’t stop, you have to try to improve every day.”

“It was important to finish our pre-season in a very positive way and important to win,” the Argentine said. “It was the first time the players involved in the Euros played and it was fantastic to see them all together.

“Now we have another week to prepare for the game against Everton and we will arrive ready to compete.”
