Pochettino’s Birthday gift to Levy

Mauricio Pochettino joked that his birthday present to Daniel Levy was his commitment to Spurs.

Our chairman turned 56 on Thursday having been in charge of the since the dark days of 2001. and on an almost weekly basis Mauricio has been linked with succeeding Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid and when previously asked about a move to La Liga giants, the Argentine said: “You never know in football. That is the problem. It is a very unstable situation.”

However, when speaking in his press conference yesterday ahead of the North London Derby Pochettino said: “I want to congratulate him – happy birthday Daniel. It’s important, and I’m going to see him and try to talk with him and see if we can find some solution.”

Pochettino was also asked whether he’d given Levy a birthday present, and Pochettino smiled and said: “Yes, myself!”

Pochettino also called on the FA to inspect Rochdale’s pitch ahead of our FA Cup tie there this month.
We travel to Spotland on February 18th, however concerns have already been raised about the sand-covered playing surface regarded as the worst in League One. Pochettino said: “Maybe the FA Cup need to go in and try to take a very good decision for football, not only because we need to play there and we go and play.
“It’s about providing a safe place to play for the players.

He added: “I think it’s a big risk to play on a pitch like this, if the picture gave us the accurate state. If it’s like I saw in the picture, I think you cannot play football. That is my point of view, but not because we are Tottenham. I thinkRochdale cannot play football too there, and it’s a massive risk for their players too.’
