Rumour Mill: Arsenal Enter Race For Lemar

According to an article written by The Express, Arsenal are set to rival Tottenham for the transfer of Thomas Lemar in the upcoming Summer transfer window.

In recent weeks, Premier League runners-up Spurs have been linked with the pacey Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, who scored twice against them in last season’s Champions League group stage.

Lemar’s inspired form last season, along with his young age (21), has seen him named amongst some of the most exciting up-and-coming footballers in all of Europe, as well as one of the most sought after in Europe too.

Recently, L’Equipe revealed Spurs had made contact with Monaco over the availability of Thomas Lemar. However, the latest club to be linked to the youngster are none other than Tottenham’s arch rivals Arsenal, who, also according to L’Equipe, will match any price Monaco put on the winger in a bid to revamp their squad following a poor campaign in the Premier League last season.

Though Arsenal may have the spending power Tottenham lack, Spurs have the luxury of offering Lemar Champions League football, whereas Arsenal do not, for the first time in Wenger’s career with the club. At Monaco, Lemar and his team-mates thrilled as turned heads, reaching the semi final stage despite being a 4th seed when the initial groups were drawn.

It is reasonable to suppose that the promise of Champions League football, as well as realistic title prospects and a new stadium on the brink of completion, would be enough to convince the 21 year old to join Tottenham this Summer. But what do you think? Which team do you think world class footballers would choose? Arsenal or Tottenham? (Try not to be biased)
