Rumour Mill: Porto and Spurs Striking a Deal?

According to SportWitness, Tottenham are one of many clubs pouncing on the opportunity to sign Porto full-back Ricardo Pereira.

The report suggests that Porto, in almost identical circumstances to Inter Milan, are in need of balancing the books in order to adhere to UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

Porto failed to wrack up the sales they expected last Summer, however despite retaining the services of these players, they also failed to win any silverware, which resulted in further lower income.

As a result, Porto are now desperate to sell and according to Portuguese publication Sabado, Spurs are willing to match Pereira’s minimum fee release clause of £22 million.

The 23 year old spent the previous two seasons in Ligue 1 with Nice, which would mean that, in the event of a transfer away from the Portuguese outfit, the club would raise £22 million while practically keeping the same squad.

Sabado also report that Spurs will face competition from Barcelona, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

The full-back made 30 appearances for Nice last season and totaled 2 goals and 4 assists in doing so. Do you think we should sign him? Or is the money too much?
