Rumour Mill: Spurs Linked With Barca Star?

According to Spanish sports outlet Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham Hotspur have launched a bid of £27 million for Barcelona’s 23 year old midfielder Denis Suarez.

In regards to midfield transfer targets, Spurs have primarily been linked with a move for Everton play-maker Ross Barkley, who’s rumoured to be hesitant to sign a new contract at Goodison Park with just a year left on his current deal.

However, in light of the Englishman’s hamstring injury sustained in training, which is expected to force Barkley into a 3 month lay-off, Spurs are reportedly switching their attention to Barcelona ace Denis Suarez.

The 23 year old Spaniard notched up 1 goal and 3 assists in 12 starts over the course of last season and has already earned a cap at international level.

With a pass completion rate of 86% in 26 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona last season, Suarez could compliment the Spurs midfield quite nicely, in a similar manner to upcoming talent Harry Winks.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham have already launched an eyebrow-raising bid of £27 million in the hopes of signing the former Manchester City youth player.

Though the sceptics are still out on this one, it might be one to follow as we enter that time in the transfer window where Spurs actually start getting their fingers, and cheque-books, out.

Would like to sign Suarez? Or would you prefer to sign an injured Ross Barkley for more money?
