According to reports in The Express Swansea centre-back Mawson and Southampton left-back Bertrand are top of Mauricio Pochettino’s list to refresh his squad at the end of this campaign.

The article describes how the club expect to lose several players this summer, with full-back Danny Rose a target for Manchester United and centre-back Toby Alderwiereld also on Jose Mourinho’s wish list at Old Trafford, with the Belgian wanted as well by both Chelsea and Arsenal.

It goes on to say Pochettino is keen on England Under-21 star Mawson, who has had an very impressive season at the Liberty Stadium after joining the Swans from Barnsley for £5m in 2016 and Tottenham have watched the 24 year old on several occasions. Manchester United are also keen on a player now rated around the £40m mark.

England Left Back Bertrand is almost certain to depart from St Mary’s if Southampton’s battle to stay in the Premier League fails.

The article adds how the 28 year old is being monitored by several rival clubs, including United, Newcastle and Wolves and that the Saints would want about £25m for Bertrand, who signed a new five-year £80,000 a week deal at St Mary’s in 2016.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. The express sport editorial really does detest Tottenham. They only ever run two types of story – the best players we are itching to sell for below market prices and the junk players we’re going to replace them with for massively inflated prices. Like the rest of their paper, these yarns are always groundless garbage. What a total shitrag.
