Spurs need more strength in depth

We need more strength in depth if we are going to compete for major honours next season, claims pundit Paul Mariner.

Mariner we should start with trying to sign Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa and indeed Kurzawa has been linked with a summer move to Hotspur Way in recent days.

We do already have two left-backs in Ben Davies and Danny Rose on our books but a Rose exit seems on the cards especially ever since a candid interview where he criticised the club’s transfer business last August.

We have once again impressed many this season but we now only see the FA Cup as our chance for a trophy and Mariner reckons Kurzawa would be a solid addition to the Spurs squad.
“I think what we’ve found with Tottenham is, when we start talking about depth, everybody’s panicking when Harry Kane goes down, (Heung-Min) Son’s come in and done a fantastic job, but they need strength in depth,” the former Arsenal man told ESPN FC.

He added: “If you’re really going to challenge for the Premier League or challenge for the Champions League, so on and so forth, you need that depth. So, if Pochettino feels he is the right type of player that can slot in and he knows his character, I think it might work.
“I think they do need a little bit more depth. So I’m going to say hit.”

Kurzawa has made 24 appearances for PSGthis season, scoring five goals and scored a hat-trick in the 5-0 Champions League win over Anderlecht last October.
