An article by talkSPORT says the club are hoping defender Jan Vertonghen does not have a serious injury after he took a heavy knock to his ankle in training on Saturday
The player was expected to start against Crystal Palace but missed the game with the issue and Mauricio Pochettino revealed the club would assess any damage done on Monday.
“Jan we need to assess tomorrow (Monday). He received a heavy knock on his ankle,” he said.
Pochettino added: “We were training yesterday and we couldn’t not communicate because we were waiting until the next day to assess him to see whether it was possible to play him.He wasn’t ready, but now we need to see. We hope it’s not a big deal.”
Vertonghen has been one of our top performers this season and it would be huge blow to lose him for any time at this crucial period of the season. Let’s just hope the knock is minor.
