Spurs Target Rejects Contract Renewal

According to reports in Germany, Tottenham’s hopes of signing 21 year old attacking midfielder Max Meyer received a huge boost following Meyer’s decision to reject a new contract at Schalke.

Meyer has just one year left on his contract in Germany, however the latest news reports suggest that Mayer has snubbed Schalke’s attempts to extend his stay at the club. When speaking with German newspaper Bild, he said:

“I have an offer to extend, but with my management I decided not to accept it.”

The article from Bild also revealed that the club will make further efforts to renew Meyer’s contract. However, should the youngster continue to refuse to sign, Schalke will be left with a choice between cashing in on the midfielder now, or running the risk of a free transfer next Summer.

Several reports also claim that Tottenham are monitoring the situation, but have yet to make contact over a transfer.

Do you think we should sign him, or pursue other targets?
