According to The Express we have been dealt a bitter blow to their summer transfer plans.

We had been chasing Bordeaux ace Malcom in January in the hope of strengthening our wide positions and the 21-year-old even revealed that he wishes to leave the Ligue 1 club amidst all the transfer speculation.

However the article adds that German giants Bayern Munich have now entered the race for the winger’s signature with veteran manager Jupp Heynckes admitting that the club are keeping a close eye on the highly rated youngster ahead of a potential summer swoop.

The news will come as a blow to Spurs and North London rivals Arsenal both who were expected to re-ignite their interest at the end of the season.

“He’s certainly in the focus of our scouting department, like many other players as well,”:Heynckes told Sport Bild,[Sporting director] Hasan Salihamidzic has very clear ideas and is driving forward the plans for next season.

He added: “He knows exactly who is in our sights and which players he would like to have. He has high quality players in mind.”

In the winter window Malcom sent a come-and-get-me plea to potential suitors saying: Yes, there was a promise that I will be negotiating in June,I will choose the team, and Bordeaux will let me go. I already said that I would have liked to leave this winter to meet new challenges.

He also said: “But I must also remember that Bordeaux helped me a lot.I gave my word to Bordeaux that I will continue [with the club] to be able to have more time to choose my future club.
“These next three or four months will make a big difference.”
