‘Strong man’ Levy rules out striker purchase

Standard Liege owner Roland Duchatelet has claimed to have spoken to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to confirm we are not interested in signing Michy Batshuayi.

The striker has scored 19 goals in 34 games this season to help his side to the top of the Belgian Pro League.  Reports did emerge claiming that Tottenham were prepared to offer £10m to lure the forward to the Lane, but this appears to be wide of the mark.

There’s no doubt we need to bring in a prolific forward during the summer, but the striker hunt will continue with Batshuayi tipped to join the team who knocked us out of the Europa League, Benfica.

“There’s another European giant interested in Batshuayi”, Duchatelet told La Derniere Heure. “There’s no interest from Tottenham as far as I know.

“I’ve talked to the strong man of Spurs (chairman Daniel Levy) on Thursday and he has confirmed to me that they don’t want to sign Batshuayi.

“Benfica, though, have contacted us. They have confirmed they want to sign Batshuayi.”

  3. Levy is a Joke. He is terrible at communicating with the managerial appointments HE makes and appears to alienate everybody around him. The sooner we appoint a REAL chairman, the better.

  4. The Levy knocking is so last week,as is van Gaal etc, just give it a rest for a bit,do you really think anybody at Spurs is listening?

  5. all we need is De mateo.we’ve got enough fire power in ade, soldado, lamela nd kane.the team needs time to gell nd know each other well then we can challange for the title not even the to 4

  6. write this season off a complete screw up… levy only got those players in last season in the hope that most of them will feature in the world cup.. then he can sell on for a profit.
tim isn't a top manager and being english isn't a good enough reason to keep him on, you need a top recognised manager who'll attract good players, so if spurs can find one who's willing to come, then they should snap him up & use this season as a learning curve.

  7. Dare I say Spurs would be in a better position now if AVB was still in charge?

Bale leaves, almost 50% of the starting 11 are new to Spurs and EPL…and yet we were still only 3 points off 4th place…hmmmmm

    • Please don't dare say it. You only think it because he is not in your face now and your memory of how bad he actually was is fading.. The guy showed no improvement in the team, was arrogant and didn't let our best striker play. Now is he for AVB or is he for the club?.
He was the worst manager we have had since Ramos
