White Hart Lane lives on in new stadium

We may be moving into our new stadium next season, but fans need not despair about missing White Hart Lane too much – as supporters will literally be walking on bits of the old ground when it opens.

Club legend Ledley King visited the site of our new ground recently to see how constructors had taken aggregate from White Hart Lane and combined it with concrete to produce a shiny, bronze concourse.
Initial mixtures for the floor of the new stadium had produced a dull, grey finish which the club decided to change by asking for crushed aggregate from White Hart Lane to be included in the concrete to produce a concourse that will see fans walking on bits of their old ground.

“The Lane was home to me and so many others for most of my life – so what I am doing is effectively walking on memories,”:King said,he added;”It’s amazing to think how taking aggregate from the foundations of that special place can create something so beautiful and fitting that we see today – just looking at it makes me a bit emotional.

King adds: “This is another example of how this incredible new stadium will really feel like home for all of us and shows that, as much as we are now about to enter into what is such an exciting new era for this Club and the area, our past will always be with us and the legacy of the Lane lives on.”
