Director reveals whether he has received offers for Spurs-linked Damsgaard

Sampdoria director, Carlo Osti has dismissed reports suggesting Mikkel Damsgaard is set to move to the Premier League this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United mentioned as potential suitors.

Calciomercato reported in July that Damsgaard was in talks with a number of Premier League clubs over a move this summer.

The versatile attacking midfielder has his fair share of admirers over in England, with Tottenham one of the clubs said to be looking at the Sampdoria star.

The 21-year-old shone at the Euros, which certainly did his stock no harm in terms of European clubs sitting up and taking notice of him.

He scored two goals and grabbed one assist in Euro 2020 and was a key component in the Denmark side that impressed throughout.

They reached the semi-final but narrowly lost out to England at Wembley. However, the 21-year-old scored a fantastic free-kick to put his side 1-0 up in that game.

Sampdoria director, Carlo Osti, has confirmed in very simple fashion that they have not received any offers for Damsgaard this summer (Il Secolo XIX, via TMW).

He said: “We haven’t received a real call yet.”

SpursWeb Opinion

Damsgaard is a great talent. For someone so young to light up a tournament like that certainly means they have a magic touch.

He has gained a lot of attention, especially from the Premier League. It feels sensible to pay the sum now as one more good season will see his value fly through the roof.
