European giants reportedly cool interest in Tottenham star

Real Madrid have reportedly cooled their interest in signing Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report in Marca, the Spanish giants are concerned about the Dane’s fitness and have also been set a bumper transfer fee of £222 million to secure his services.

Eriksen was recently sidelined for a number of weeks with an abdominal injury which has seen Madrid compare him to another former Spur who has suffered with consistent injury niggles, Gareth Bale.

The playmaker’s contract at Tottenham runs until 2020 and has yet to agree to a new contract with the club despite talks having already taken place since last season.

The apparent concern about Eriksen’s fitness is baffling when reviewing the number of matches he has played in recent seasons in the Premier League:-

2014-15: 10 goals in 38 appearances

2015-16: 6 goals in 35 appearances

2016-17: 8 goals in 36 appearances

2017-18: 10 goals in 37 appearances

2018-19: 0 goals in 10 appearances

Eriksen came off the bench to score the winner against Inter Milan in the Champions League clash at Wembley last night and will be expected to be involved in Sunday’s North London derby at Arsenal.
